New Delhi [India], October 9 : Union Minister of Women and Child Development (WCD) and BJP leader Annapurna Devi has credited the BJP's victory in the Haryana Assembly election to people's trust in the party and said that people showed their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that Modi's magic was seen in the election.
"First of all, I would like to congratulate the people of Haryana and thank them for trusting the Haryana government for the third time. People of Haryana have told through their mandate that 'Modi hai to Mumkin hai'. Once again, people trusted Modi and Modi's magic was seen," Devi told ANI.
"The way our Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Sainiji, in a very simple way, went among the people and said some things, whether it is about a government job or the scheme run by Chief Minister Khattar, people once again have shown trust in the BJP, and they put a stamp on Modi's guarantee. And for the third thing, generally, we see that it is difficult to form a government for the third time, but people have given us a very good mandate," she added.
BJP won 48 out of 90 seats in the Haryana assembly, while Congress managed to win 37 seats. Independents won 3 seats and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured 2 seats, according to Election Commission data issued on Tuesday
Devi alleged that Congress spread propaganda to mislead people. But the people of Haryana have not been swayed by that propaganda. Maybe because of that propaganda, the exit poll showed figures in their favour, she said.
"But despite all this, we would like to say that because of Modi Magic, people showed their trust in the Chief Minister, and I would also like to say that our Haryana Incharge, Dharmendra Pradhan, with his excellent leadership, his ability--he has shown this once--has also played an important role in this great victory. So, we congratulate the people of Haryana again," Devi added.
On Congress complaining to ECI over 'delay' in showing poll trends, Annapurna Devi said, "Congress has always had this habit that whenever they lose an election in any state, they blame the EVM. Why don't they say the same thing about Jammu and Kashmir? It has become a habit to blame after losing, be it the Election Commission or the EVM. People have understood this. So, if this is happening in Haryana, then they should speak on Jammu and Kashmir as well."
On Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election results, Devi said, "The National Conference and Congress are in alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu region, the BJP has made good progress. Certainly, we are seeing people's trust in BJP in J&K. It will get better in the future."
The National Conference-Congress alliance clinched an absolute majority in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, winning 48 seats in the 90-member assembly.
"Farooq Abdullah (NC chief) says his own thing, but if we see that after the abrogation of Article 370, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are very happy, they feel independent, and they are benefiting from the schemes of the Indian government. Jammu and Kashmir has moved forward in every aspect after the abrogation of Article 370. I don't think this logic is right," Devi said.
