MP cabinet approves Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 9 : Madhya Pradesh cabinet has decided to implement Madhya Pradesh Mob Lynching Victim Compensation Scheme 2023 for relief and rehabilitation of the victims of mob lynching and their dependents in the state.
The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held here at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Bhopal on Saturday.
Under this scheme, the crime of mob lynching involves causing harm to any person or persons by a mob of five or more persons on grounds of religion, caste, sex, place of birth, language, food habits, sexual orientation, political affiliation, ethnicity or other such ground or grounds or involves any act or series of acts of violence intended to cause injury. A provision has been made to provide compensation to the victims of mob lynching.
Briefing about the decision, medical education minister Vishwas Sarang said that the cabinet approved the decision to implement the scheme following the past instructions of the Supreme Court.
Besides, the Cabinet has abolished the obligation of students admitted in government, autonomous and aided engineering institutes of the Government of India and their universities to obtain rank in the JEE Mains examination.
The council of ministers has approved the creation of a total of 195 posts and recurring expenditure for upgrading the 100 bedded Civil Hospital Kailash Nath Katju of Bhopal to 300 bedded Maternal and Child Specialty Civil Hospital. Also, approval has been given for arrangement of surveillance, electric maintenance and lift operation, water supply, fire safety and plumbing, pest and animal control, parking system and washing system for doctors and paramedical staff, in addition to non-core services like cleaning and housekeeping, food arrangements, security arrangements and CCTV in the 300 bed civil hospital.
