MP CM Chouhan unveils statue of late Subhash Chandra Banerjee in Jabalpur

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 19 : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled the statue of late Subhash Chandra Banerjee, who was the father-in-law of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national President JP Nadda, in Jabalpur on Saturday.
Union Minister Prahlad Patel, BJP state president V D Sharma, Jabalpur Member of Parliament (MP) Rakesh Singh and other leaders were present on the occasion. After unveiling the statue, CM Chouhan planted saplings and interacted with the media persons in the district.
He said, “Banerjee was a dedicated worker of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since Childhood. He was full of the feeling of patriotism. Imbued with Sangh's tradition, he worked as a preacher for ten years and later he established Bharatiya Jana Sangh under the guidance of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay in Mahakoshal, a region of central India. (Mahakoshal lies in the upper or eastern reaches of the Narmada River valley in Madhya Pradesh. Jabalpur is the largest city in the region).”
Banerjee had an incomparable contribution to expanding the organization of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in Mahakaushal. Earlier in 1967, he contested the Lok Sabha elections and gave a tough fight to Congress at that time. Due to his inspiration, his wife, former Jabalpur MP Jayshree Banerjee, and the whole family is united with the values of the Sangh has been constantly engaged in the service of the country and the public in the spirit of patriotism, the CM said.
The chief minister further said, “Probably the family of Subhas ji would be the only family whose all six members were in jail simultaneously during the Emergency period. Due to his austerity, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and then the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were established here. After that, his wife Jayshree Banerjee also represented in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. She has also been the minister.”
He added that he was blessed to unveil Banarjee’s statue.
