MP: Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh begins 'Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Yatra’ after BJP, Congress's yatras ahead of assembly polls

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 3 : After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra and Congress’s ongoing ‘Jan Akrosh Yatra’, MP Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh on Tuesday began ‘Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Yatra’ in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the forthcoming state assembly polls.
The Kisan Union has started the yatra from the state capital Bhopal along with their 166 demands, including loan waiver and will cover 52 districts across the state.
National President of Kisan Mazdoor Mahasangh, Shivkumar Kaka told ANI, “It is a Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Yatra which will go to 52 districts across the state. It will continue for 40 days. Our main demands are debt relief, fair prices for crops. We have named the vehicle for yatra Shahid Rath on the name of the farmers martyred in Mandsaur, Lakhimpur Kheri in UP and in Bareli, UP."
There are a total of 166 demands for the farmers which are related to 17 departments. Farmer leaders from various states across the country have arrived here and it is a united yatra of all leaders for the farmers, he added.
Earlier, BJP took out Jan Ashirwad Yatras, a mass-contact programme, from five different places in the state. The first yatra was started from September 3 after which all the yatras culminated in the state capital Bhopal on September 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ to mark the culmination of the yatras.
On the other hand, the Congress party is taking out ‘Jan Aakrosh Yatra’ from seven different regions covering 11400 kilometres and around all the assembly constituencies across the state from September 19.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to go for the assembly polls later this year. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
Notably, during 2018 assembly polls, Congress’s announcement for the farmers debt waiver played a vital role in gaining profit to them in the election as a result of which they (Congress) emerged as the single largest party with 114 seats. According to political analysts, now ahead of the assembly polls 2023 farmers’ Yatra with their demands, including debt relief and fair prices for crops may leave a big impact on the poll. Though time will depict who to whom it will benefit.
As far as Mandsaur farmers incident is concerned where farmers were killed in an alleged police firing in 2017 when BJP was in power in the state, it did not benefit the Congress party in the district in 2018 assembly polls.
