Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 29 : As the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh are next door, the state is witnessing new turmoil every day in the political corridors.
After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded seven MPs (Members of Parliament), including three union ministers in the state assembly polls, yet another shocking decision from a BJP leader has come to light who does not wish to contest elections citing health issues.
BJP state chief VD Sharma has confirmed that MP minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has requested the party that she does not wish to contest the upcoming state assembly polls due to health issues.
“Yashodhara Raje Scindia is our senior leader. Due to her health issues, she has requested the organisation that she does not want to contest elections this time. The organisation will take appropriate decisions on this,” Sharma told reporters here.
Scindia has said only due to health issues that she does not wish to contest elections, Sharma said.
“It is a personal issue of Scinda. In reality, she wants to take rest after the problems she faced due to being affected by COVID-19 for four times. That's why she has requested the party,” the BJP leader added.
On the other hand, chairman of MP Congress media department, KK Mishra jibed over the decision and claimed that many more would make such excuses who were afraid of not getting a ticket or being defeated in the upcoming polls.
Mishra said, “First of all, I wish Yashodhara Raje Scindia to get well soon. Secondly, many more ministers will make such excuses as they are afraid of not getting a ticket or defeat in the upcoming assembly polls.”
Apart from this, the way BJP has given tickets to its so-called big leaders in its second list of candidates, some BJP leaders have also expressed their unhappiness on the party’s decision. It indicates that BJP has become a group of big and tired people, he added.
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to go for the assembly polls later this year. Through the polls, the state will elect legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
Nonetheless, discussions are also going on in the political corridor, since the assembly constituency of Yashodhra Raje Scindia, Shivpuri has been associated with the Scindia family from long time, it is also being speculated that Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to be fielded from the seat. On the other hand, it is also said that Yoshodhara Raje Scindia will contest for General elections 2024 from Jyotiraditya Scindia’s Guna constituency.
