Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 27 : Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate (DM), Arvind Mallappa Bangari, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Singh conducted a foot march with the ATS Commando Unit amid the ongoing Kanwar Yatra on Saturday and said that all the police personnel have been deployed at various points so as to ensure that the yatra goes unhindered.

"As you know the kanwar yatra is at its peak and a lot of kanwar yatris have been coming to Muzaffarnagar, we made suitable preparations way before it all started. Our police personnel as well as our personnel from other departments have been managing to ensure that there are no difficulties during the ongoing Kanwar yatra. We are trying to ensure that all our police personnel are appropriately deployed at the duty point," said Muzaffarnagar DM Arvind Mallappa Bangari

"Our ATS's SPOT Commando Unit is UP's counter-strike team. If any terrorist attack takes place anywhere in the state, then this team is mobilised first. They have been specially deployed here in Muzaffarnagar because as you know, there is always a threat of terror attack in all the religious yatras...All the Kanwariyas come from Haridwar, about 50 per cent of the Kanwariyas pass through Muzaffarnagar and the point where I am standing, all the other Kanwariyas from other states bifurcate from here," SSP Abhishek Singh stated.
He further emphasised that all the preparations had been made to foil terror attacks. "Behind me, you can see Shiv Chowk where there is going to be a lot of crowds and on the day of Shivratri, this entire area will be jampacked. If any terrorist organization has any such plans, then all these preparations are made to foil them... ATS and STF teams are also working on this continuous backend and if any attack takes place here on the spot like an ID attack, then to deal with them immediately our BDDS and ATS have a specialized commander unit here, through which they will be neutralized..." he added.
