Nagaland: Congress names Wanglem Konyak as its candidate for 43 Tapi by-polls

Kohima, (Nagaland) [India], October 18 : The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday gave the party ticket to Wanglem Konyak for contesting the 43 Tapi Assembly constituency by-election scheduled on November 7.
A ticket distribution program was also held at the Congress Bhavan in Kohima.
Congress candidate Wanglem Konyak, in his short address expressed gratitude to the President Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge and the state Congress party for reposing faith in his candidature. He said that he will do his best for the development in his constituency as well as to for the whole of Nagaland and appealed to people to support the Congress party.
President, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee S Supongmeren Jamir said that the state leaders of the Congress have committed the re-affirmation and has made to jointly fight for the cause of the Nagas and especially reverence for 43-Tapi assembly constituency. Party is sending a candidate with a hope that people will extend its support and that congress will come with a big victory.
The State Congress President further stated that without the help and cooperation from Angh and the village elders, the party's mission will not be completed, and requested to recommit and dedicate support to its candidate.
Wanglem Konyak will be filing nomination on Thursday at his constituency.
