Narela Sub-City projects get a boost with Delhi LG VK Saxena's efforts

New Delhi [India], October 9 : With Delhi LG VK Saxena personally taking charge of improving connectivity, civic infrastructure and new projects in the area, Narela Sub-city, the ambitious DDA project hitherto lying neglected, is all set to get a major boost. Narela which is already home to many relocated and new industries, has recently got a court complex, police station, hospital, jail complex and enhanced bus connectivity and is now slated to become an education hub.

LG Saxena while presiding over a meeting with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Narela Sub-City project plans recently, directed the DDA to aim and develop the area majorly into an Educational Hub by providing land parcels to those universities/institutions, that have been seeking the same from the DDA, stated an official release.

The entire Narela Sub-city comprises about 9866 Ha of which the project area is of 3828 Ha, land pooling area amounts to 3537 Ha and 2501 Ha is defined as the Green Belt.

Institutions to which land has already been allotted include NIT - 20.8 Ha, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) - 20 Ha and National Institute of Homeopathy - 4.04 Ha. Under the proposed plan, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is to be allotted 8.08 Ha and Delhi Teachers University (DETU) - 4.04 Ha.

The LG has directed DDA that all these land parcels should be allotted in a cluster, which are close to the DDA housing inventory so as to ensure that readymade residential and hostel facilities are available in close proximity.

The DDA has already started to work on this plan. Apart from this, the plan is also to develop the area as a multi-modal Logistics Park in approximately 40 Ha. Narela also lacks on big commercial centres like Corporate Parks, Shopping Malls etc, and the same have been flagged by the LG to DDA for suitably addressing it.

The other civic infrastructure projects to be developed in the area are Club and Sports Complex over 7.28 Ha, District Jail - 16 Ha, District Court near Tikri Khurd - 4 Ha, District Park namely Smriti Van in Sector A-7 - 15.8 Ha, three DSIIDC industrial areas in Narela over 247 Ha and in Bawana and Bhorgarh over 221 Ha and 172 Ha respectively.
Plans are also afoot to develop as Anaaj Mandi over 14.6 Ha and Eco Park for e-waste management over 8.5 Ha apart from a secured land fill facility (SLF) site over 69 Ha.

In addition to this, the plan is to also develop the road, rail and airport connectivity and the development of Metro connectivity on the proposed Rithala, Bawana, Narela corridor in Phase IV.

During the meeting, the LG was apprised by the DDA about its plan to develop Narela as a preferred location, promote big business, innovation and corporate parks, warehousing, educational hub etc. The plan is to also improve road connectivity by constructing on the missing links.

The LG emphasized upon DDA developing Narela as an education hub by offering proper plots to educational institutions by building logistics support. He further directed the DDA to make a revised plan for accommodating educational institutions and revert to him at the earliest.
