Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 26 : The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) will take centre stage in a national event scheduled to be held tomorrow at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
This event promises to be a comprehensive celebration of motherhood, underlining the significance of the PMMVY, read the press release by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The event will be divided into two sessions, commencing with a Workshop Session and culminating in an Inaugural Session chaired by Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and graced by the presence of Smriti Irani, Union Minister of Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs.
Munjapara Mahendrabhai, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development and AYUSH, along with other dignitaries, will also be in attendance.
This occasion will mark the release of a 'User Manual on PMMVY,' the launch of a 'New Portal and Mobile App,' and the initiation of 'Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)' to beneficiaries across the country.
A noteworthy highlight of this event is the first-time release of benefits for the second girl child under the PMMVY.
The event is designed to shed light on the remarkable achievements and features of the PMMVY. Embracing the principles of 'Digital India,' 'Make in India,' and 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat,' a new PMMVY Portal, known as PMMVYsoft MIS, has been developed.
This portal incorporates advanced features, including 'online and face authentication technology' by UIDAI for beneficiary verification and NPCI verification of beneficiary bank accounts to ensure smooth fund transfers via DBT.
It introduces a paperless online registration system, enabling beneficiaries and Anganwadi/ASHA workers to register directly through the portal.
Additionally, the event will see the release of a comprehensive User Manual, catering to various stakeholders, including citizens, field functionaries, supervisors, sanctioning officers, district nodal officers, and state nodal officers.
The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is to provide financial incentives to compensate for wage loss during pregnancy, enabling women to rest adequately before and after childbirth, read the press release.
Furthermore, the scheme aims to encourage healthy practices among pregnant and lactating mothers.
PMMVY's commitment to promoting a positive attitude towards the girl child is a noteworthy aspect.
Women from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds receive a maternity benefit of Rs 5,000, which is now extended to include support for a second girl child, further strengthening the campaign against female feticide and boosting labour force participation.
The scheme also emphasizes timely immunization, childbirth registration, and institutional birth registrations, read the press release.
Since its inception, PMMVY has supported more than 3.11 Crore beneficiaries, with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 14,103 Crores.
The PMMVY Portal and Mobile App are designed for a citizen-friendly experience, ensuring seamless fund transfers through DBT.
This national event is not only a celebration of motherhood but also a testament to the government's commitment to women and child welfare, read the release.
