Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 19 : Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pratul Shah Deo exuded confidence in the party's victory in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections, and said that NDA is in the 'strongest" position after the announcement of the seat-sharing agreement.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) revealed) its seat-sharing formula for Jharkhand on Friday.
BJP will be contesting on 68 seats, while its allies, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) will contest 10, Janata Dal (United) will contest two and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest the lone seat of Chatra. The Jharkhand assembly has 81 constituencies.
Speaking to ANI, Deo said "After the seat sharing has been finalized, I can say that NDA is at it's strongest in Jharkhand so far. It has never been in history that four parties have come together to fight the elections. NDA allies are even ready to swap their seats at the last moment if needed. We are ready to throw the corrupt government off the seat. All NDA members should come and fight with us. Hemant Soren's government is the most corrupt in the state's history."
Taking a jibe at Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, the BJP leader said that his upcoming visit to Jharkhand will help in increasing the seats of NDA.
"We wanted Rahul Gandhi to come here earlier. His coming here would for obvious reasons help increase the seats for our party. After his failure three times, people have lost hope in him, and he only questions the integrity of the nation," Deo added.
Earlier this week, the Election Commission announced the election dates for Jharkhand. The state is set to vote in two phases in assembly polls on November 13 and 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.
A total of 2.60 crore voters are eligible to cast votes in Jharkhand and there are 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters. The state has 11.84 lakh first-time voters.
In the 2020 assembly election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) won 30 seats, the Bharatiya Janta Party won 25 and Congress won 16. In the 2014 assembly election in Jharkhand, the BJP won 37 seats, JMM won 19 and Congress won only 6.
