Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 24 : The Republican Party of India (Athawale) national president and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale expressed confidence in the victory of BJP-led NDA, saying it will win 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 as people have voted for development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ramdas Athawale said, "We are confident of getting 400 seats. People have voted for development, in the name of PM Modi. INDIA Alliance is dreaming that they will get 295 seats. If they get 295 seats, I would like to ask who will be their PM. If it is someone among them who becomes the PM, I would be the first person to welcome them with a garland. If that doesn't happen, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi should come to present a garland to Narendra Modi - I invite them."
He further said that NDA expects 400 seats for the development of the country and to give justice to every person in the society like farmers, youth, women, and Dalits.
Reacting to Maharashtra MLA Ravi Rana's statement that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray would be seen with Prime Minister Narendra Modi 15 to 20 days after the BJP forms the government, Athawale said that this can turn out to be true in the time to come.
He further said, "What Ravi Rana has said can turn out to be true in the time to come. It is essential too. Uddhav Thackeray was with the BJP for a very long time. Balasaheb Thackeray and BJP were in alliance for many years. The alliance broke only after Uddhav Thackeray shifted towards Congress and NCP. Anything is possible in politics. If Uddhav Thackeray comes, he will be welcomed."
Earlier the exit polls predicted that the ruling BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance over its 2019 record when it won 352 seats. Two polls predicted the BJP also improving its numbers from the 303 seats it won in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, the exit poll predicted a marked rise in NDA's vote share in Tamil Nadu which is expected to go up to 22 per cent. According to the Axis My India exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is expected to win 2-4 seats in Tamil Nadu.
The INDIA bloc, which has both DMK and Congress in it, is set to win 33-37 seats out of 39 Lok Sabha seats. The Narendra Modi-led BJP is seeking a third term in power, while the opposition INDIA bloc is aiming to wrest power by stopping the juggernaut.
