New Garib Rath Express to launch between Agartala-Kolkata route

Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 20 : The Indian Railways is set for the launch of the new Garib Rath Express connecting Agartala in Tripura and Kolkata in West Bengal commencing its journey from the month of July. This service is aimed at providing affordable and comfortable travel options to the economically weaker sections of society, said officials.
The fully air-conditioned train will feature modern amenities, including clean and hygienic conditions, efficient onboard services, and improved seating arrangements, but at budget-friendly fares.
The train will be operating thrice a week, covering the journey in approximately 18-20 hours. Key stops include Silchar, Lumding, Guwahati, and Malda Town, enhancing connectivity for passengers along the route. This initiative aims to boost economic ties and travel convenience between the northeastern region and West Bengal.
The inauguration will see attendance from the Railway Minister and local officials, reflecting Indian Railways' commitment to improving connectivity in northeastern states.
