NHAI, Shimla presents Rs 11.6 lakh cheque to Himachal CM Sukhu for disaster relief fund

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 29 : The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Office Shimla on Tuesday presented a cheque of Rs 11.65 lakh to Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for the disaster relief fund. 
While holding a meeting with NHAI Chairman Santosh Yadav, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh focused on the damage caused to the four lanes in the state due to heavy rains.
The Chief Minister stressed making maximum tolls to avoid damage to the four-lane in future.
Further, the NHAI Chairman assured the chief minister to make four laning of Kullu-Manali and Mandi smooth before Kullu Dussehra.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday said that the state is grappling with devastation after recent heavy rainfall and landslide, but relentless efforts were being carried out to restore crucial roadways and other basic amenities.
Temporary roads are swiftly being constructed to facilitate the transportation of agricultural and horticultural produce, minimizing financial losses for farmers, the CM added.
Incessant rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has triggered many landslides and cloudbursts in many places. At least 367 people have died in Himachal Pradesh in rain-related incidents this year since the onset of monsoon, the State Disaster Management Authority said earlier on Friday.
Apart from casualties, the disaster management said that the monetary loss is expected to reach nearly Rs 12,000 crore.
Himachal has been battered by heavy rainfall for the past several weeks and the state has suffered great loss of life as well as property in various rain-related incidents, such as landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, etc.
