Oct 27, 2023
New Delhi [India], October 27 : Reacting to the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on Congress leaders in Rajasthan, BJP MP PP Chaudhary on Friday said that there is no immunity for politicians if they are involved in corrupt practices adding that the central agencies are independent agencies and doing their jobs accordingly.
Speaking to ANI, PP Chaudhary said, "ED and CBI are independent agencies. They conduct their proceedings after proofs. ED and CBI are doing their jobs. They are conducting the proceedings after a preliminary investigation. If you indulge in corruption and you think you are a politician then say that you are immune to it as elections are going on, there is no such exemption. There are no such arrangements in Indian law."
This came following the ED raids at the residence of Rajasthan Congress Chief Govind Singh Dotasara, in connection with the the Senior Teacher 2nd Grade Competitive Examination, 2022 Paper Leak case.
The raids were carried out at the official residence of Dotasara at Civil Lines in Rajasthan's Jaipur. The ED has also summoned Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's son, Vaibhav Gehlot, for questioning in a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. This triggered sharp reactions from the Congress leaders. The state assembly polls are to be held on November 25.
Reacting to the raids, Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara has said that not a single rupee was seized from him, only 3 mobile phones and e-mail details have been taken by ED.
"There is no point of tension. Not even 1 rupee was seized. Only 3 mobile phones and our email were seized. Neither any paper nor any jewellery was seized. If I have earned anything in life, I have earned the love of Congress workers. But I appeal to all of you to tell to the people of the entire Rajasthan that the Congress worker is not weak or cowardly," he said.
