May 06, 2024
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 6 : Slamming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for claiming that BJP will abolish reservation or change the Constitution in its third term, Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale on Monday said, "No one can abolish reservation or tamper with the Constitution."
Speaking to ANI, the MoS for Social Justice and Empowerment called these allegations false, and said a complaint will be filed against Wayanad MP with the Election Commission.
Addressing the opposition's criticism, Athawale reaffirmed that, "no one can abolish reservation or tamper with the Constitution."
Athawale highlighted the major achievements of the Modi government over the past decade; giving reservations for women, enacting a law to protect Muslim women from Triple Talaq, and abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir.
The Republican Party of India (Athawale) chief emphasized the importance of ongoing infrastructure development, such as roadways, across the country.
He also exuded confidence regarding NDA's performance in the Lok Sabha elections, predicting that it will win over 400 seats.
Athawale also criticised the Congress party and the Gandhi family over not attending the 'Pran Pratishtha' of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in January, and suggested that their actions were solely for "garnering Muslim votes."
He accused Congress leaders of being against Lord Ram and said the party is unlikely to come to power under Rahul Gandhi's leadership.
The Union MoS mentioned that his party is in alliance with the BJP in Telangana, with they contesting on some seats while supporting the BJP on others. He also predicted that the BJP would be able to surpass its performance in previous elections.
BJP won 303 seats in the 2019 general elections and the tally of the NDA alliance was over 350.
The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP is seeking a third term in power, while the Opposition INDIA bloc is aiming to wrest power by stopping the juggernaut.
