New Delhi [India], April 27 : Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Saturday held a roadshow in Delhi and said that Arvind Kejriwal is a "Sher" (lion) and nobody can "break him."
"For one month, they have forcefully put your CM and my husband in jail. No court has convicted him so far. They are saying that the investigation is going on. If the investigation goes on for 10 years, will they keep him in jail for 10 years? Earlier, people were jailed only after the Court convicted someone but they have brought a new system and saying that will keep him in jail till the investigation is going on. This is a dictatorship. Arvind Kejriwal has been a diabetic for 22 years and on insulin for 12 years. He has been denied insulin in jail... Do they want to kill Arvind Kejriwal? I know that you people love him and that's their problem. What is his fault? Arvind Kejriwal is a "sher" (lion) and nobody can break him," Sunita said during the roadshow.
She said the Delhi CM was jailed because he built schools, provided free electricity, and opened Mohalla Clinics.
Sunita Kejriwal was standing through the sunroof of a vehicle and greeted voters in the Kondli area of the East Delhi constituency with folded hands in support of AAP's East Delhi candidate Kuldeep Kumar.
Meanwhile, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi said that BJP put Arvind Kejriwal in jail thinking that they could stop him from campaigning but now lakhs of Arvind Kejriwal have hit the streets for campaigning.
"BJP put Arvind Kejriwal in jail thinking that they can stop him from campaigning but now lakhs of Arvind Kejriwal have hit the streets for campaigning. This is the love of people of Delhi...so many people have gathered to give their blessings to Arvind Kejriwal and Sunita Kejriwal," she said.
Gopal Rai, Delhi Minister and AAP leader said that the people of Delhi are angry with the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal.
"The people of Delhi are angry with the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal...from today, through the roadshow of Sunita Kejriwal, we're starting the campaigning for 3rd phase of the elections...BJP is scared of AAP's campaigning," he said.
Earlier on April 25, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea against his arrest and said that he did not cooperate with the central agency despite multiple summons issued to him.
The ED told the apex court that Arvind Kejriwal was avoiding interrogation by not remaining present before the investigating officer despite being summoned nine times
The ED said that the agency has been able to recover key evidence that directly reveals the role of Kejriwal in processes and activities relating to the proceeds of crime.
Kejriwal had approached the top court challenging his arrest by ED and his subsequent remand in the excise policy case. The apex court had earlier asked the Central Agency to file its response to Kejriwal's plea.
The Delhi CM had challenged a Delhi High Court judgment that dismissed his plea against arrest by the ED and his subsequent remand in the excise policy case.
Kejriwal, while filing an appeal in the apex court, contended that his arrest after the announcement of the general elections was "motivated by extraneous considerations."
On April 9, the High Court dismissed his plea for release from jail and rejected his argument of political vendetta amid the looming Lok Sabha elections.
The High Court had said that Kejriwal's absence from nine ED summons over six months undermined any claims of special privilege as Chief Minister, suggesting his arrest was an inevitable consequence of his non-cooperation.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
