"Not even a single word from the PM": DMK on NEET-PG postponement
Jun 23, 2024
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], June 23 : After the Centre postponed the NEET-PG exam, DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai slammed the government on Sunday and said that almost 50 lakh people have been affected, and there has not been even a single word from the Prime Minister.
"BJP government is incompetent. It is allowing organised gangs to leak papers. Four high-quality exams have been cancelled. Almost 50 lakh students have been affected by the sheer criminal negligence of the BJP party. There is not even a single word from the PM," Annadurai told ANI.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) Examination on Saturday, which was scheduled to be held on Sunday and said that a fresh date will be announced at the earliest.
The NEET-PG exams were scheduled to be held on June 23.
Meanwhile, students have expressed their sorrow, criticising the Centre's decision.
A NEET PG candidate, Sunanda Pansari, told ANI, "This is extremely wrong. I have travelled 600 km to attend the exam. The exam was scheduled for March after which it for postponed to July. Later they postponed their exam and now they have postponed the exam again. We should have been informed at least 24 hours before. There is no information on the paper leak as of now."
Another candidate, Dikhsa, said that whatever is happening is very strange. Everywhere cheating is going on and there is no discipline.
Jyoth Chouhan, another candidate, said that the Centre informing them at the last moment about the exam caused great inconvenience.
"NTA (National Testing Agency) informed us at the last moment, 10 hours before that the exam has been postponed. If they had to reschedule, they should have announced that at least a few days ago. They didn't distribute exam centres properly, candidates got very faraway places at exam centres. Students from Vadodara had exam centres in Nashik and Madhya Pradesh. And then when they reached there, they were informed that the exam had been postponed. All are having great difficulties," he said.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the NEET-UG exams, is facing criticism over alleged irregularities in the exams. This resulted in several protests across the country, with protestors and political parties demanding to disband the NTA.
