New Delhi [India], October 3 : Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Thursday slammed the Congress over the alleged involvement of former RTI Cell chairman of the Delhi Pradesh Congress in the Rs 5,600 crore drug syndicate and said that today Pakistan must be very happy that they don't have to send any couriers to destroy the youth as the Congress is only doing so.
Poonawalla told ANI, "It seems that Congress is no longer 'Mohabbat ki dukaan' but 'Nasha ka saaman' that is sold in the 'Congress ki dukaan', therefore every big drug peddling racket has a Congress link with it. This big racket of Rs 5,000 crore has a Congress leader at the centre of it as a kingpin. Even if Congress produces some backdated expulsion letter they must have created in their office, the pictures are showing the patronage given to him."
"Is it a commitment given by the Congress that wherever it will come to power, it will allow such people to flourish? In Punjab, they had done this. Now, they must have committed in Haryana also. Today, Pakistan must be very happy thinking that it does not need to send any couriers to destroy the future of the youth as Congress is only doing this along with its leaders," the BJP spokesperson added.
Earlier today, in a major development in the International Drug Syndicate, an investigation shows the mastermind of the 5600 crore cocaine shipment allegedly had Congress connections, Delhi police said.
Mastermind and main accused, Tushar Goyal claims he was the Chairman of the RTI Cell of the Delhi Pradesh Congress 2021 but left after some time.
Earlier, BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi attacked the Congress party and described this as a serious issue, alleging the party's links with the recent drug haul, stating Rahul Gandhi's 'Mohabbat ki Dukan' now not only contain elements of hatred but also products related to intoxication.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "The information related to the drug haul case is not being presented here to just level allegations. We also have the appointment letter of that main accused, the Indian Youth Congress Delhi RTI Head. The accused, Tushar Goyal, was appointed on March 24."
Lashing out at the Congress, Trivedi said, "Now our simple question is that if he were the chief of RTI Cell, then today every citizen of the country has the right to information about the connection of this accused with the Congress party, who has been accused in one of the biggest drug consignments of the country."
Earlier after the Delhi Police busted an international drug syndicate and seized more than 560 kg of cocaine in the national capital on Wednesday, Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Additional Commissioner of Police Special Cell, said that it is the biggest cocaine haul in recent times.
Four people have also been arrested in connection with the case. Additional CP Kushwaha said that 15 kg of cocaine was recovered from the personal possession of the accused Tushar Goyal, Himanshu and Aurangzeb, while the remaining marijuana and cocaine were found in the godown.
