Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], May 26 : Parents of students staged protest against fee hike by a private school in Golf Link Colony at Humbera road in Ludhiana.
The parents have requested the school to waive off the annual charge and the fee of months till the school is not functional.
"We have been protesting for the past five days. As HC has ruled that 70 percent of the tuition fees should be given, I request the government to reconsider this decision. Parents who have been staying at home for the past three months, how they will be able to pay the fees?" said Rajvir Singh, one of the protesting parents.
It is significant to note that the Punjab and Haryana High court has given a ruling that the schools should collect 70 percent school fees form the students and to pay 70 percent salaries of the teachers.
"We even went to the school but no one is listening to our concerns. We want the principal to at least meet us, no one is willing to meet the parents. They have demanded fees for three months along with an additional 10 percent," said Rama Sharma, another parent at the protest.
