"Partial permission; many restrictions from Manipur govt": Sachin Pilot on Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra
Jan 11, 2024
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], January 11 : Elaborating about Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and its starting point in Manipur, Congress leader Sachin Pilot stated on Thursday that the Manipur government has granted partial permission and imposed several restrictions.
" We will raise issues relating to farmers, women and youth in Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Nyay Yatra'. This will benefit the public and Congress...I think people consider INDIA alliance and Congress as a good alternative," he said.
He affirmed that despite this, the yatra will commence from Imphal on January 14, with the purpose of listening to the views of the deprived sections of the country and presenting them to the nation.
"Recently, in the working committee meeting, it was decided that Rahul ji should undertake another yatra. This yatra is to start from Manipur. You know that the Manipur government did not give the required permission. Still, they have given partial permission and have imposed many restrictions. The purpose of this visit is not political but to listen to the views of the deprived sections of the country who have not got justice and to put them before the country. I am very sorry that the Manipur government ignored this. We all have resolved that on January 14, we all go to Imphal and Rahul ji will start this Yatra from there," Pilot said.
Further, Sachin Pilot said that as there is a shortage of time due to Lok Sabha elections, the yatra will be hybrid.
The yatra is set to cover 14 states and conclude in Mumbai on March 20, adopting a different model from previous journeys.
"This yatra will go to 14 States and conclude in Mumbai on March 20. This journey will be hybrid, some part will be in bus, some parts will be on foot, as time is less as Lok Sabha elections are around the corner. The model of this journey is different from the previous journey," he added.
Speaking on the INDIA bloc, Pilot said that the opposition alliance has become a matter of concern for BJP and NDA.
"The INDIA bloc has become a matter of great concern for BJP. This is because the parties in our alliance, if their combine vote percentage is added, then it became at least 2/3 votes in 2019 elections. Our alliance here is strong. Seat sharing will start soon," Congress leader Sachin Pilot said.
"The situation that has arisen in the last 10 years of the Central Government, if you remove publicity, propaganda and fake news, this Yatra will be enough to expose everyone to the reality of the country. This government is misusing all the agencies. All the opposition leaders are being targeted. Be it IT, CBI or ED," he added.
Responding on the Congress declining the invitation for the Pran Pratishtha programme of Ram Mandir on January 22, Sachin Pilot said that if the issue is being politicized in the name of religion, then we are not in favour of it.
"The organization that gave the invitation had invited three people and this is clear from the statement of AICC that if this issue is being politicized in the name of religion, then we are not in favor of it. Everyone has their own faith; anyone can go anywhere. We consider it wrong to take political advantage of this issue. If BJP thinks that it can give the certificate of who is a good Hindu, then this is absolutely wrong," Pilot said.
"...We have come to change history...We will fight strongly on relevant issues. We will try is to win as many Lok sabha seats but the problem is that after recent state elections, our party workers are slightly discouraged. In politics we should always look at the future, we will certainly get better in Chhattisgarh. The future of Congress is good," he added.
