New Delhi [India], May 14 : Amid the allegations of assault made by Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Delhi Chief Minister's personal assistant Bibhav Kumar, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shazia Ilmi on Tuesday said that people would like to know the real face of the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and those around him.
"Why is AAP quiet on such a serious issue? Why did Swati Maliwal make such an allegation? She even went to Police station. Was she trying to threaten somebody or was that allegation true? She is the DCW chief and Rajya Sabha MP, why is she making such an allegation? People need to know the reality of Arvind Kejriwal and the people around him," Shazia Ilmi told ANI.
"All of us who have worked with Kejriwal know about Bibhav. We know how faithfully he listens to Kejriwal. People in the country would like to know the truth behind this incident, what is the truth behind Kejriwal and those around him. People will know his real face and his real identity," Ilmi said speaking to ANI on Tuesday.
Ilmi questioned why Maliwal made such grave accusations against her own party chief's personal assistant.
"People would like to know why the former DCW head, who is now an MP in the Rajya Sabha, is making such serious allegations?" Ilmi said.
Questioning the party's silence on the issue, the BJP leader raised several questions on Maliwal's allegations.
"Why is the Aam Aadmi Party silent on such a serious issue? Why has Swati Maliwal brought upon such allegations? She did not just called over phone but also visited the police station. Did she intend to say anything? Or was it just a way of threatening? Or is there any truth to her statements?" Ilmi said.
Meanwhile, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognizance of the matter and has directed for strict action in the incident.
"Yesterday, an incident took place. At the residence of Arvind Kejriwal, an incident of misbehaviour took place with Swati Maliwal by Bibhav Kumar (Arvind Kejriwal's PA). Swati Maliwal has informed about this incident to Delhi Police. This is a condemnable incident. Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognizance of the incident and has directed strict action in the incident. We are with Swati Maliwal," Singh said in a press conference on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, according to Delhi Police, Swati Maliwal has not yet contacted Delhi Police to register her complaint. The police said that it would wait for some more time for the complaint and if no complaint is still received from Swati Maliwal, then Delhi Police might contact her.According to Delhi Police sources, a PCR call means asking for police help in an emergency and not filing any complaint.
"The complaint is registered only when the complainant registers his complaint in writing in the police station, in this case also by Swati Maliwal. Unless a written complaint is lodged, Delhi Police can neither register any complaint nor any FIR," the police said.
This comes nearly just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the National Capital and following the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from jail. The Supreme Court has granted him interim bail till June 1.
All seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will vote on May 25. The Aam Admi Party and Congress are jointly fighting the elections. As per the arrangement, AAP will be contesting 4 seats and Congress on 3.
