People of Bengal voting BJP to escape TMC's misrule: Tripura CM
May 23, 2024
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 23 : Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said people are eager to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates to escape the TMC misrule.
"People desire to live in a peaceful environment. Therefore, they are eagerly waiting to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party candidates to escape the misrule of the Trinamool Congress. BJP has set a target of winning 32 seats in West Bengal in this Lok Sabha election. The Trinamool Congress government is presiding over misrule here, prompting people to seek an escape," he said.
The CM made the remark on the sidelines of a roadshow organized in support of Dr Anirban Ganguly, the BJP's nominated candidate for Bengal's Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency and chairman of the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Foundation.
Speaking with the media persons, Saha expressed confidence in BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha election saying his party will win 32 out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
"We are confident of achieving our target of 32 seats in Bengal. The Trinamool Congress government is plagued by corruption and mismanagement. People are eager to break free from this cycle of misrule, and its fallout. This Lok Sabha election will determine the future of West Bengal," he said.
"The Trinamool Congress is employing tactics similar to those used by the CPI(M) during their rule in Tripura, including violence, terrorism, and arson. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we successfully ousted the Left Front from Tripura. The BJP came to power in Tripura in 2018, and in 2023, the party secured an absolute majority. Peaceful polling was also seen in the two constituencies of Tripura during the Lok Sabha elections. The people yearn for peace."
Addressing a gathering later, Saha said the BJP was confident of surpassing 400 seats.
"We are confident of surpassing 400 seats. In Tripura, we witnessed the misrule of the CPIM, and now the CPIM and Congress have formed an unholy alliance. However, we have leaders like PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda. Just as we ousted the CPI(M) from Tripura under their leadership, I am confident that we will achieve the same in West Bengal. If the people of Tripura can do it, why not the people of West Bengal?" he said.
Polling in West Bengal is being held in seven phases of Lok Sabha polls. Polling has already been done in five phases and the voting for the remaining two phases will be held on May 25 and June 1. Votes will be counted on June 4.
