People of Odisha have rejected corrupt BJD government: State BJP President

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], June 5 : After BJP won 20 Lok Sabha seats and the 78 Assembly seats in Odisha, state BJP President Manmohan Samal said that the people of Odisha have rejected the corrupt BJD government.
He said, "Public has given us a responsibility. The public has bestowed their trust upon PM Modi. There was a huge popularity of PM Modi in Odisha. The public has rejected the corrupt BJD government."
He further stated that the people of the state are poor despite rich resources in the state.
"Even after so many years, there are no teachers in schools and lecturers in colleges. Higher education is in dismay. The medical system has collapsed. Odisha has rich mineral resources still people of Odisha is poor. Our party focussed on it and PM Modi highlighted it. In Odisha people of the state should get the priority," he further said.
He further added the government would first focus on clean drinking water.
"PM Modi has given Rs 10,000 crores for the arrangement of clean drinking water, to double the income of farmers and to carry out 100 percent irrigation. To improve agro-industries and processing units. The third objective is women's empowerment. 25 lakh women will benefit under the scheme of Lakhpati didi and along with it under the Subhadra Yojana women of Odisha will be given Rs 50,000 as a gift voucher," he added.
He also added that an enquiry committee would be formed and the treasury of the Lord Jagannath Temple would be opened soon.
BJP has won 78 Legislative Assembly seats out of 147 in the state.
After a massive defeat in the State Assembly and Parliamentary elections, the 24-year-old tenure of Odisha CM and BJD chief Naveen Patnaik concluded as he submitted his resignation to Odisha Governor Raghubar Das at the Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The Biju Janata Dala, which has ruled Odisha since 1997, lost to the BJP, breaking the 24-year-old reign of Naveen Patnaik as the Chief Minister.
The Bharatiya Janata Party secured 78 seats in the 147-seat assembly. The BJD secured 51 seats way behind the majority mark of 74 and the Indian National Congress secured 14 seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls also BJP performed well by securing 20 out of the 21 parliamentary seats of the state, the remaining one seat was won by Congress.
