Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 8 : Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde on Tuesday criticised Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and the Congress, accusing them of "fostering division through caste-based politics."
Speaking at a press conference in Jalna, Maharashtra, the MP stated, "Rahul Gandhi attempted to polarise votes through caste-based hatred wherever he went. However, the people of Haryana have responded decisively, rejecting this politics of division in favour of progress. The public recognises the positive impact of a double-engine government, both at the state and national levels, and I am confident this will be reflected in the upcoming Maharashtra elections."
He described the Haryana assembly election trends as a "clear rebuke" of Congress policies, adding that the party has been constructing "false narratives" to mislead voters.
Reflecting on the election trends in Haryana, Shinde expressed hope that similar results could be achieved in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
"Voters in Haryana have rejected these divisive tactics, opting instead for the stability and progress provided by a double-engine government, a trend that could be replicated in Maharashtra," he said.
The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections will be held in 288 constituencies, with dates yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India. The term of the current assembly ends on 26 November.
Shinde also praised the Eknath Shinde-led government in the state, highlighting several government initiatives, including the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, Lek Ladki scheme, Youth Work Training Scheme, free electricity for farmers, and the Solar Agriculture Pump Scheme.
He further noted the completion of various developmental projects in the state, such as the Samruddhi Highway, Atal Setu, and the Coastal Road.
"Maharashtra is leading the nation in FDI, startups, and infrastructure development, with 52% of the country's total FDI being directed to our state," the MP said.
He also mentioned significant assistance provided to farmers, citing the recent Rs 1,400 crore relief package.
"With the recent aid of Rs 1,400 crore from Union Home Minister Amit Shah for farmers, the Mahayuti government has so far provided Rs 12,500 crore in aid, exceeding NDRF criteria, and ensuring that every request from the state was fully supported by the central government," he added.
Claiming that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is focused on delivering positive outcomes for the people, he said, "The people are satisfied with the Mahayuti's work over the past two years, and the Chief Minister is committed to delivering results despite opposition criticism. I am confident that the Mahayuti will win the upcoming elections with a decisive majority."
Later, addressing Shiv Sena workers and local leaders in Jalna, Shinde, accompanied by Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam and former MLA Arjun Khotkar, interacted with hundreds of beneficiaries of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, along with local doctors and lawyers.
