Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 18 : TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram said on Tuesday that people are shocked to see visuals of former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's Rushikonda Palace costing Rs 500 crore.
Speaking with ANI, Pattabhi said, "The people are in a state of shock after looking at the visuals inside the Rushikonda palace. People couldn't believe that Jagan Reddy had spent Rs 500 crores on creating his own luxuries. Look at the bathtubs, which cost more than Rs 40 lakh, commodes cost more than Rs 10-12 lakh... The kind of luxurious furniture that are placed inside... The people are in shock after looking at these visuals."
The TDP spokesperson further said that the size of the toilet in Rushikonda Palace is three to four times more than the house of a poor man's house. "The houses for BPL families being built by the government, which was initiated by Jagan Reddy, are much smaller than the toilet in Rushikonda." Pattabhi said.
Questioning the former chief minister about the lavish spending, Pattabhi said, "So Jagan Reddy, you have to answer about this lavish spending. All this job of creating a luxurious interior was given to a woman named Supriya Reddy, who happens to be the wife of his close confidant, an IT advisor, Devreddy Srinath Reddy."
He added further, "Jagan Reddy is giving contracts to his own people and spending such huge amounts of money at a time when the state government is under huge debts."
The TDP spokesperson further said that every week, the government has to go to the RBI to raise loans. "In such kind of a scenario, how can you spend Rs 500 crore on your palace? You have not spent money on projects like Amravati... These are the projects that are required by the people. Instead of spending money on those projects, you have wasted money on your own palace," Pattabhi said.
Pattabhi also said that an inquiry will be launched into this. "This is a criminal wastage of public money and a strong inquiry will be launched into this and people who are behind this lavish spending of public money... will have to face serious consequences..."
In another post, it said, "Rushikonda Palace is the most luxurious palace in the country. Jagan built this palace with Rs.500 crore people's money with whose permission? People of Andhra Pradesh say that a deep investigation should be done on this."
The TDP also took to its official X handle and critisised Jagan Mohan Reddy over Rushikonda Palace. It said, "Rushikonda Palace incident alone is enough to know how much good people have done to the state by defeating Jagan. Look at how much effort he had to occupy a hill in Visakha and build a palace with Rs 500 crores of public money!
Meanwhile, YSRCP spokesperson Ravi Chandra Reddy asserted that the building is constructed in a true spirit and would be used for government purposes.

Speaking with ANI, Reddy said, "We constructed that building (Rushikonda Palace) in the true spirit to rule from Vizag and that buildings should be used for only government purpose. Those buildings are belonging to the government of Andhra Pradesh and not Jagan Mohan Reddy or YSRCP. Those buildings are constructed with beautiful architecture for the government of Andhra Pradesh so it can be used when the President or Prime Minister comes as good buildings are not available in Vizag."
Targeting the TDP for playing politics, YSRCP spokesperson said, "You are playing politics now. It is high time to deliver to people what you committed to people in your manifesto. But inspite of that, you people are playing politics... You are diverting people's attention."
