"Per capita income of state has increased 17 times": Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 20 : Uttarakhand Chief Minister said that the per capita income of the state has increased 17 times and the government has set a target to double the GSDP of the state in the next five years, an official release on Sunday said.
"We are continuously moving forward in this direction. Effective steps have been taken to increase revenue. Many departments of the state government that were running in losses are now becoming profitable, CM Dhami said.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in the 24 years of state formation, Uttarakhand has achieved new heights of development. "The period led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been special in this development journey. In this period, new doors of progress have opened in Uttarakhand. Our performance on the economic front has been encouraging," CM Dhami added.
He said that I have full faith that with the efforts of the God-like people of the state and the government-administration, we will be successful in achieving this target.
The economy of Uttarakhand has taken a long leap, as the size of state's economy and per capita income have increased 24 times and 17 times, respectively, in the last 24 hours, an official release said.
Facing all the ups and downs in the period of two decades and ten months, Uttarakhand has not given up. The mountain-like courage of the mountain people did not let the pace of development slow down. The economy of the state (GSDP) is continuously improving. The increasing size of the economy is telling the prosperity of the state, the release said.
According to the release, at the time of formation of Uttarakhand state in the year 2000, the size of the economy was Rs 4501 crore, which has increased to Rs 346000 crore in 2023-24. The tourism sector has played an important role in this. Two years ago, the contribution of the tourism sector in GSDP was 37%, which has now increased to 43.7 percent.
Similarly, per capita income has also increased to Rs 2 lakh 60 thousand. Whereas in the year 2000, the per capita income was Rs 15285. If we look at the data of the last two years, the per capita income of the state has increased by 26 percent.
With the pace of development in the state, the budget has also increased twenty times. At the time of the formation of the state in the year 2000, the budget of Uttarakhand was close to Rs 4500 crores. Whereas for the years 24-25, a total budget provision of more than Rs 94 thousand crores has been made. This includes the Rs 89230.07 general budget and the Rs 5013.05 supplementary budget, the release said.
