"Perfect example of dynasty rule...": AIADMK's attack on DMK over Udhayanidhi Stalin's appointment as Dy CM

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 30 : Days after Udhayanidhi Stalin was announced Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, AIADMK leader Kovai Sathyan on Monday criticised state government, saying that it is a perfect example of dynasty rule in the name of democracy.
"It is a perfect example of dynasty rule in the name of democracy. It is much larger than nepotism. In DMK, many senior ministers are awaiting the right opportunity to strike it big. The 2026 Tamil Nadu elections will see the alliance parties drifting away from DMK and DMK itself splitting into factions and one of the family members taking the lead," said AIADMK leader Kovai Sathyan.
Reacting to Senthil Balaji being inducted into the State Cabinet, Sathyan said that a man with a scam-tainted image in public life has been reinducted as a minister.
"Clearly, this defines what the Dravidian model is all about...A man with a scam-tainted image in public life, who is made to spend Pongal and Diwali festivals in jail, you re-induct as a minister, and his first job is to run between ED office and others for his bail. It shows the priority of DMK, and they should hang their heads in shame for giving opportunities to such scam-tainted ministers," he said.
On Saturday, Udhayanidhi was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. Previously, he held the position of Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development. In addition to his existing responsibilities, he will now take on the portfolio of planning and development.
DMK leader V Senthil Balaji was sworn in as a minister in Chief Minister MK Stalin's Tamil Nadu government, along with three other MLAs, as part of a major cabinet reshuffle.
Along with Balaji, DMK MLAs Govi Chezhian, R. Rajendran, and SM Nasar were administered the oath of office by Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi.
According to an official statement, Senthil Balaji will manage Electricity and Non-Conventional Energy Development, Prohibition & Excise.
Govi Chezhian has been appointed Minister for Higher Education, R. Rajendran as Minister for Tourism, and SM Nasar as Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare.
DMK MLA K Ramachandran has been designated as the party's Whip in the Tamil Nadu assembly.
