Washington [US], August 10 : Pixar has announced that the beloved superhero family from 'The Incredibles' will be returning to the big screen as 'Incredibles 3' is in development at Pixar Animation Studios, with Brad Bird, who was the writer-director of the first two films, set to return for the third instalment, as per Variety.
The news was revealed by Pixar chief Pete Docter during Disney's D23 Expo on Friday, where he shared the studio's upcoming projects.
While Docter didn't provide additional details about 'Incredibles 3,' the announcement comes after the tremendous success of 'Inside Out 2,' which recently became Pixar's highest-grossing film of all time.
The original 'The Incredibles,' released in 2004, followed Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl as they navigated life after superheroes were banned. The film was a hit, grossing over $630 million worldwide.
Its sequel, 'Incredibles 2,' released 14 years later in 2018, continued the story and went on to earn $1.24 billion globally, according to Variety.
Fans can expect the return of the iconic voice cast, including Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible, Holly Hunter as Elastigirl, Sarah Vowell as Violet, and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone. No release date has been set for 'Incredibles 3.'
