May 31, 2024
New Delhi [India], May 31 : Aam Aadmi Party has hit back at Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena after he blamed the Delhi government for the water crisis in the city, and accused him of playing "cheap and dirty politics" with the people.
Further attacking the LG, AAP said that he is an "outsider" who has no interest in the welfare of people, adding that the party doesn't feel it necessary to fight with him on every issue.
This comes as Delhi battles a severe water crisis amid rising temperatures in the National Capital.
"Once again, Delhi LG is playing cheap and dirty politics with the people of Delhi. Every time Delhi faces a crisis, it is only the Kejriwal government that looks for solutions while the LG resorts to playing dirty politics. It is clear that he is an outsider who has no interest in the welfare of Delhi or Delhiites. We do not feel it necessary or appropriate to fight with him on every issue," the AAP statement read.
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj also attacked the Delhi LG, without naming him with a few poetic lines. In his post, the AAP leader accused VK Saxena of halting government work and said he is getting an even bad name than the previous two Delhi LGs.
"Chehra saaf karne se bhi tum saaf na dikhoge, kirdaar accha karoge tabhi yaad rahoge. Naukri hai aisi, kaam rokna tumhara kaam, pehle do se bhi zyada, tum ho tahe badnaam," Bhardwaj posted on X.

Earlier, Delhi LG while attacking the AAP government had posted the famous lines of Ghalib.
"Umar bhar Ghalib, yahi bhool karta raha, dhool chehre par thi aur aaina saaf karta raha," CK Saxena's statement read.
LG VK Saxena lashed out at the Delhi government over the water crisis in the national capital and said it has become a habit of the government to hide its "inefficiency and inability" during the past 10 years.
He said that while people are seen risking their lives and running behind tankers to get water. But the government is blaming other states for its failures. Saxena further asserted the whole water shortage is "only due to" the management of the Delhi government.
"From the last few days, we can see the irresponsible attitude of the Delhi government towards the water crisis in Delhi. Today in Delhi, people are seen risking their lives and running behind tankers to get water. But the government is blaming other states for its failures. The Chief Minister's promise of 24-hour water supply in Delhi has so far proved to be a trick," LG Saxena said in a statement.
He further said the states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are "continuously supplying" their fixed quota of water to Delhi while adding that the biggest reason behind the shortage is the unaccounted water and water supply through "old and dilapidated pipelines."
VK Saxena added that the old pipelines could not be repaired or replaced, nor new pipes were laid despite "thousands of crores of rupees" being spent by the AAP government.
Earlier in the day, the Delhi government approached the Supreme Court to get immediate additional water from neighbouring Haryana.
Delhi government in its plea said that it is constrained to file the petition on account of the acute shortage of water being faced by the people of Delhi, triggered by the ongoing severe heat conditions in North India, particularly in the national capital.
Several areas in Delhi including Chanakyapuri's Sanjay Camp area and the Geeta colony area among those facing acute water shortages. In the blazing heat, people have to wait in long queues to fill buckets from water tankers.
The residents have complained that despite submitting applications to the government regarding water shortage, the residents complain that their pleas go unnoticed.
