Plea in Delhi HC against illegal melting of animals' skins in Motia Khan Masjid area

New Delhi [India], August 22 : A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was moved in Delhi High Court on Tuesday, seeking direction against the alleged illegal melting of skins of animals in the Motia Khan Masjid area of the national capital.
The Plea alleged that persons of said area prepare the "Charbis" of the animals in huge Karhais and prepare harmful ghee from Charbis of animals and thereafter they sell it violating the guidelines related to pollution, framed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and other higher authorities concerned, and also make it difficult to breathe in fresh and healthy air by local person.
The petitioner sought direction from the MCD and Station House Officer (SHO) of the concerned area to take appropriate action in this regard.
The bench of Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula after noting the submissions, asked the counsel appered for respondents authorities to look into the matter and take appropriate action.
The petitioner, Faraz Khan, a practising lawyer, through a plea, stated that the persons living in the area have objected to same, many times but every time they have been threatened with dire consequences.
The plea alleged that the miscreants melt the animals' Charges (skins) in huge Karhais due to which a great smell is spread. "This is a clear violation of the Article 21 of the Constitution of India which states that freedom of right to liberty is snatched by the said erring persons," the plea added.
