New Delhi (India), August 30 : BJP Kisan Morcha National President and MP Rajkumar Chahar on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government's decision to reduce LPG prices.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave an invaluable gift on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan to crores of sisters of the country by giving exemption in cooking gas prices," said Chahar.
The union government on Tuesday announced a reduction in the cost of cooking gas LPG cylinders by Rs 200 for all households.
He said, "Thousands of sisters were already getting a Rs 200 discount on domestic gas cylinders, and the latest exemption of Rs 200 under the Ujjwala Yojana will ultimately give them a benefit of Rs 400 as the gas cylinders will now be available to them at cheaper prices."
With the latest decision of the government, the existing beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana will get even more benefits. Earlier, beneficiaries used to get an exemption of Rs 200 per cylinder because of the government subsidy.
Hence, they had to pay Rs 903 per cylinder. Now, they will be required to pay even Rs 200 less on top of the existing scheme. This means Ujjwala beneficiaries will now pay only Rs. 703 for a cylinder.
"Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the last nine years, 4 crore houses were given gas connections, out of which 3 crore houses were given to our sisters. For the first time in independent India, the Prime Minister of our country showed sensitivity towards women and provided toilets to 11 crore sisters. It is the result of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme that today the sex ratio in India is lower than what it was much earlier," Chahar said, adding, "It was less; today the sex ratio has increased to 1020 females per 1000 males."
"For the first time in the country, it was due to Narendra Modi that a lady from the Scheduled Tribe community has become the President of the country. This shows the sensitivity of PM Narendra Modi towards women," he added.
"Today women are becoming self-reliant through women's self-help groups, for the first time women have been given commission in the army, today women are making their name famous in every field, but opposition parties and some leaders do politics only in the name of women. There is no concern for women's respect and no sensitivity towards women," the BJP Kisan Morcha chief said.
