Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 10 : Lauding Prime Minister, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said "Narendra Modi has won over the world" with the G20 Summit.
India hosted the G20 Summit this weekend which saw participation by heads of state of the grouping and heads of international organisations.
"The G20 Summit was historic and memorable. I had the good fortune to attend it. It could be said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won over the world with this Summit. It is a proud moment for us that our Prime Minister, our India, got the chance to preside over the G20 Summit," Shinde told ANI.
Continuing with his praise for the Prime Minister, Shinde said, "Yesterday, it could be seen that leaders from all over the world participated in the Summit and were together on one platform. This is a big achievement. The credit goes to our Prime Minister."
Shinde also went on to say that global leaders adopted the New Delhi declaration because of Prime Minister Modi's charisma.
"The New Delhi G20 declaration got consensus from all the countries. People from all over the world agreed to our philosophy Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World Is One Family), Sabka Sath Sabka Viswas, Sabka Prayas. This is Modi’s charisma. African Union also got to join the G20 because of his charisma," he said.
Eknath Shinde said that it is a "big achievement" for the country that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being considered a "global leader."
"This is a proud moment for us. People from all over the world are considering our PM Narendra Modi as a global leader. This is a big achievement for our country," Shinde said.
Speaking on the Maharashtra government's intent to give reservation to the Maratha community, the Chief Minister said, "The government clearly wants to give reservations to the Maratha community. When Devendra Fadnavis was CM, reservation was given to them, this was confirmed by the High Court as well, but unfortunately, it was dismissed by the Supreme Court."
"The Supreme Court made some observations and pointed out some lacunae while dismissing the issue of reservation for the Maratha community. That is why the government is seriously working towards it," he added.
The Maharashtra government is working to uplift the socially and educationally backward people in the Maratha community, Shinde said adding that the state government is also looking into the demand for Kunbi caste certificates by the protesters.
"On the other hand, on Kunbi certificates demand, a committee headed by Retired Justice Shinde has been formed. We have to give it some time. Whatever evidence or documents they have need to be submitted," he said.
