Faridabad (Haryana) [India], May 19 : BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday said the way PM Narendra Modi has promoted the leadership capabilities of women is unique in the country's politics.
Addressing the Mahila Morcha Sammelan, Nadda said the PM's focus is not only on women's development but also on women-led development.
He added, "Not only women empowerment, but development should also take place through women, so that they can become the engine of development and contribute to development and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inspired this."
Nadda also asserted that PM believes that when women are empowered, the family is empowered, and hence, "women have an important contribution in development in every aspect."
Lauding PM Modi for his work done on women's reservation, Nadda said, "PM gave 33 per cent reservation to women in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabhas through Nari Shakti Vandan Act. He worked to appoint the first woman external affairs minister, the first woman defence minister and the first woman finance minister.
In his address, the BJP National President elaborated on the government's policies, emphasising their focus on empowering women. He underscored how these initiatives were made with the goal of uplifting women across the nation.
"Whatever policies we made, we have made them keeping in mind the maximum empowerment of women. Earlier, our mothers and sisters had to wait for the darkness to defecate, and had to go in the open. Today, PM Modi has respected women by giving more than 12 crore 'Izzat Ghar'. Earlier, our mothers and sisters had to go to the forest to cut wood to cook food, then they used to cook while battling with smoke. Today, more than 10 crore gas connections have been given under the Ujjwala Yojana," Nadda said.
He added, "Earlier, our mothers and sisters had to wander far for water. Today, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water connections have been provided to every house. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, houses have been given in the name of about 1 crore 72 lakh women. Similarly, under the Sukanya Yojana, 3.4 crore sisters have benefited."
Bringing up the topic of Triple Talaq, Nadda said, "No government dared to remove Triple Talaq. Countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Indonesia, don't have triple talaq despite being Muslim nations. Triple Talaq was going on in our country and Muslim women were going through injustice. But PM Modi removed Triple Talaq and gave freedom to our sisters.
