Police Telecommunication Dept plays big role in providing accurate information: UP CM Yogi

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 1 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that along with exchanging information, the Police Telecommunication Department also plays a big role in obtaining other important information and delivering accurate information to all places.
The Chief Minister attended the Police Telecommunication Foundation Day program organised at Police Radio Headquarters, Lucknow. During the event, he said, “The police force responsible for internal security and law enforcement understands the importance of technology,” according to a press release by the Chief Minister’s office. 
At the outset of the event, the Chief Minister was given the Guard of Honour, and then he inaugurated and reviewed the JC Bose Technology Exhibition. CM Yogi extended his best wishes for the events scheduled to take place from October 1 to October 3 to mark Foundation Day.
The Chief Minister said that the state government had the opportunity to organise the country's biggest cultural event, Kumbh Mela Prayagraj, in 2019. He said that it was the first time such a massive event was organised in Uttar Pradesh. 
“It was a matter of curiosity for the entire nation and the world. In Uttar Pradesh, the way the police conducted their work, behaviour, and technology were noticed, and the results were seen by the entire nation and the world”, the Chief Minister said.
CM Yogi mentioned that over 24 crore devotees came to Prayagraj Kumbh. "This presence in 2019 proves that one member of every Indian family visited Prayagraj. After coming to Prayagraj Kumbh, devotees saw the picture of the new Uttar Pradesh. Today, the perception of Uttar Pradesh has changed, and the state is not in need of any identity promotion", he remarked. 
The Chief Minister also praised the work done by the Police Radio Department, describing it as "excellent coordination".
CM Yogi mentioned that “the UP Police first used wireless sets in 1938. This was during the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, which is where the journey began. During that Kumbh Mela, the Police Radio Department was established, and it was a significant challenge to figure out which communication tools to use in such a massive gathering to provide information and prevent panic or rumours.”
Yogi further said that “earlier, the police relied on three teams of elephants to facilitate communication, and through their efforts, the UP Police continued to provide communication services as the Kumbh Mela progressed. “
 The establishment of the Radio Headquarters in 2019 marked the transition from using elephants to using handsets, the release stated. 
 “Now, we can provide information through mobile phones, which signifies progress. We cannot afford to lose technology. We need to integrate technology into our systems, along with proper training. This technology, created by us, continues to advance our department and is essential in today's world”, the Chief Minister said.
CM Yogi said, “I tell the Home Department that our personnel should be well trained. The better the training, the better the results, provided with good equipment, resources, and arrangements, but at the same time, preparations should be made to preserve our history.”
The Chief Minister suggested that there should be a small museum in the Police Lines and the PAC unit. "This museum would help educate the current generation and schoolchildren about our journey from scratch to success. It would tell the story of how we reached where we are today—the progression from humble beginnings to where we stand with modern tools and weapons."
Yogi further said that although the police now have advanced equipment, there is a need to preserve its history through the establishment of a museum. "Starting from a stick, we have come a long way, and it is essential to document and showcase this journey", he remarked. 
CM Yogi mentioned that back in 2017, when the new government was formed, there were only two police stations in Lucknow and Noida that were dealing with cybercrime. Today, approval has been given for its establishment in all 75 districts.
Yogi said that it was suggested that the master trainers from all 75 districts undergo training together and then provide training in their respective police stations. Additionally, there should be a cyber help desk established in every police station because the rapid increase in cybercrime is a matter of concern.
The Chief Minister mentioned a recent robbery that happened in Prayagraj. "The robbers' gang was from outside UP. They came on a bike, looted Rs 7 lakhs, left Prayagraj, and then stayed at a hotel in Lucknow. The next day, they looted Rs 9.5 lakhs in Sitapur. However, due to technology, the police managed to apprehend two of them from a hotel in Lucknow", he said. 
“If we did not have the technology and were not prepared adequately, we would have been limited to Prayagraj. Technology and police alerts were crucial, and as a result, both cases were solved within three days, and the stolen money was recovered,” the Chief Minister further pointed out.
The Chief Minister said that "even major events can be organised through artificial intelligence (AI). During Kanwar Yatra, most of the stretch between Ghaziabad and Haridwar falls in Uttar Pradesh. Around 4 crore devotees participated in this event, passing through sensitive areas of the state. Despite this, the pilgrimage proceeded peacefully.”
The Chief Minister said, “UP Radio Police also conducted new experiments during the Kanwar Yatra”. He expressed confidence that the department would succeed in providing modern technology knowledge along with training.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, Director General of Police Vijay Kumar, DG Special Law and Order Prashant Kumar, Director General (Police Telecommunications) Dr. Sanjay Tarde, and Director (Police Telecommunications) Sunil Kumar Singh, etc. were present.
