Punjab Police arrest six people, recover 8kg heroin and 3 pistols in Amritsar

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], June 29 : Amritsar Police arrested six people in two different cases and recovered 8 kg of heroin and three pistols from their possession on Saturday.
On X, Punjab Police Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, posted, "Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, Amritsar Rural Police in two different cases arrested six persons and recovered 8 Kg heroin and 3 pistols with Rs 30000 drug money In both cases, FIRs under NDPS Act have been registered and Investigations are ongoing to establish backward & forward linkages."
"Punjab police is committed to make our state drug-free as per the directions of CM Bhawant Mann," he added.
Earlier today, troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) seized over six kilograms of heroin in Punjab's Amritsar district.
According to officials, the seizure was made in two different operations.
BSF troops, after observing drone movement and receiving specific information regarding the presence of narcotics, launched a search operation and recovered 6.130 kg of heroin.
"The first consignment of 560 grams was recovered from Mahawa village, and the second consignment of 5.570 kg was recovered from Kakkar village, both in the Amritsar district," the BSF said in a post on X.
On June 28, Punjab police busted two separate cross-border drug smuggling cartels being operated by Pakistan-based smugglers, arrested three drug traffickers, and recovered a total of 9.2 kg heroin from their possession.
Apart from recovering 8.2 kg heroin, police teams also recovered Rs 95,000 money and one electronic weighing machine, besides impounding their Swift car. FIR has been registered under sections 21-C and 23/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Chheharta in Amritsar, the press release added.
