Punjab police bust interstate cyber fraud gang, arrest two people from Guwahati

Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], September 30 : In a stern action against cybercrime, Punjab police in a joint operation with Assam Police arrested two persons from Guwahati and recovered Rs 5.25 crore, ATM cards and mobile phones.
In a post on X, Punjab Police Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav said, "Commendable work by Ludhiana Police in cracking an inter-state cyber fraud gang. Two persons have been arrested from Guwahati, with the help of Assam police, and seven more persons have been nominated. A recovery of Rs 5.25 crore, along with ATM cards and mobile phones, marks the largest-ever recovery in India as per I4C data."
"In recognition of the excellent police work, Cybercrime team of Ludhiana Commissionerate has been awarded the Director General's Commendation Disc for their unwavering dedication in ensuring public safety. This achievement sets a strong precedent and a high bar in the fight against cybercrime," the DGP added.
He also thanked Assam police for their support in the operation.
"I thank DGP Assam Police for the excellent support provided in our inter-state operation Punjab Police is working round-the-clock to take immediate action against New Age crimes and keep our citizen's safe as per the directions of CM Bhagwant Mann," he said.
Earlier on September 10, noting that the development of any country is impossible without cyber security, Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to all stakeholders to come on the same platform and move forward on the same method and path to keep cyberspace secured.
Shah appealed while addressing the first Foundation Day program of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) as the Chief Guest in the national capital.
In his address, Shah underlined that I4C was established in 2015 under the 'Safe Cyber Space' campaign on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, since then it is continuously moving towards becoming a strong pillar of a cyber-secured India. He added that in the nine-year journey from 2015 to 2024, this idea turned into an initiative and then into an institution and now it is moving towards becoming a huge pillar of a cyber-secured India.
Union Home Minister said that the development of any country is impossible without cyber security. He said that technology proves to be a blessing for human life and today technology is being used extensively in all new initiatives. He said that the increasing use of technology is also creating many threats and that is why cyber security is no longer limited to the digital world but has also become an important aspect of national security.
