Punjab: Police solve Tarn Taran Church Case, arrests one, recovers pistol

Amritsar (Punjab) [India], June 9 : The Amritsar Rural Police has solved the Tarn Taran Church Case by arresting one accused and recovering one illegal 9mm pistol along with two live cartridges, the Punjab Director General of Police said.
"In an intelligence-based operation Amritsar Rural Police solves Tarn Taran Church Case with the arrest of Jaswinder Singh @ Munshi and recovery of one illegal 9mm pistol along with 02 live cartridges," the Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on 'X'.
An FIR has been registered in the case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, registered at Chatiwind police station, police said.
"FIR No 71 dated 09/06/2024 u/s 25,54,59 Arms Act registered at PS Chatiwind #Amritsar," the DGP added.
The Punjab DGP said that the accused, Jaswinder Singh alias Munshi along with his other associates.
"During preliminary investigations, it was revealed by accused that he along with his other associates Gurwinder singh @ Afridi and two others damaged the statue of Lord Jesus & Mother Mary in Aug' 2022," the DGP said.
"FIR No 148 Dated 31/08/2022 u/s 295 A, 452, 427, 34 IPC 25,54,59 Arms Act was registered at PS Sadar Patti #TarnTaran after the incident. Further investigations are going on," it added.
Earlier in August 2022, some miscreants with their faces covered vandalised statues of Lord Jesus and Mother Mariam at a church in Punjab's Tarn Taran district and fled the scene after setting the Pastor's car on fire.
