Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrests senior executive engineer of PSPCL for taking bribe

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], September 30 : A senior executive engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 45,000, an official statement said on Friday. 
The accused has been identified as Munish Kumar Jindal. 
Punjab Vigilance Bureau said that the accused senior executive engineer posted at PSPCL's Sangrur office was arrested on the complaint of Sukhchain Singh, a resident of village Hariau after the complainant had applied for a  transfer of his tubewell connection to another village Chhajali. 
"Complainant approached the VB and informed that his relative Major Singh of village Dhindsa, Lehra block wanted to transfer his tubewell connection to another village Chhajali. Major Singh being an old person has asked complainant Sukhchain Singh to pursue his case for transfer of connection. When he met XEN Munish Kumar Jindal in this regard he demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000 to allow transfer of this tubewell connection," an official statement said. 
Vigilance Bureau spokesperson further informed that the vigilance unit of Patiala range laid a trap and was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 45,000 in the presence of two official witnesses.
A case has been registered against the accused official Munish Kumar Jindal at Vigilance Bureau Patiala range police station. 
Further investigation is underway.
