Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma holds meeting regarding heavy rains, urges citizens to avoid using basements

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 11 : As incessant rains continue to lash parts of Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a meeting with officials Chief Minister's Office on Sunday and instructions were given to strengthen arrangements related to disaster management immediately.
CM Sharma also appealed to the citizens of the state to stay away from waterlogged areas and avoid using basements of buildings during rain.

In a post on X, CM Bhajanlal Sharma wrote, "Today, a meeting was held with the officials regarding the heavy rains in the state at the Chief Minister's Office and necessary guidelines were given to strengthen all the arrangements related to disaster management immediately. I appeal to all the citizens of the state to stay away from waterlogged areas, maintain distance from electric poles and wires during rains, avoid using basements of buildings and pay special attention to the warnings and safety measures issued by the Disaster Management Department."
"I request all people to take proper precautions during the rainy days. I pray to God for a safe and prosperous life for all the residents of the state." the post further reads.
Parts of Rajasthan witnessed intense rainfall, causing severe waterlogging in many areas, including Gangapur City in the past three days.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted additional downpours in certain areas for the upcoming week.
The met department predicted that on Sunday, there is also a chance of heavy to very heavy rainfall at certain locations in the divisions of Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur, and Bharatpur.
The heavy rain activities are expected to continue in these areas for the next five to seven days.
The next five to six days may see moderate to heavy rain in some areas of western Rajasthan's Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions, with a chance of heavy rain at some locations in the Shekhawati region.
