Rajasthan Panchayat polls: BJP leads on 906, Congress on 901

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 8 : BJP is leading on 906 panchayat seats, while the Congress is leading on 901 seats in Rajasthan as the counting of votes polled in recently concluded elections is underway, according to the State Election Commission's data till 2:55 pm.

Independent candidates are leading on 269, CPIM on 8 seats, Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) on 6, BSP on 3, NCP on 2.
10 Congress candidates are leading on Zila Parishad seats while BJP on three.

The polls were held on 59 panchayat samities of Banswara, Ajmer, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Churu, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Dungarpur, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhalawar, Sikar, Hanumangarh, Tonk and Udaipur in 21 districts in four phases.
The counting of votes polled in panchayat samiti and zila parishad members' elections began at 9 am today at all district headquarters.
Voting to elect 4,371 panchayat samiti members and 636 zila parishad members was held in four phases on November 23 and 27 and December 1 and 5. Over 59 lakh voters were eligible to vote at 8,400 polling stations centres.
