Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], August 19 : On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, various sadhus on Monday evening tied 'Raksha Sutra' on the wrist of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at his residence here.
According to officials, Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad President Swami Ravindra Puri Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Harichetna Nand Maharaj and Mahamandaleshwar Swami Yatindranand Giri Maharaj came to visit the CM and wished a long life and prosperous future for him.
In return, Dhami also expressed his gratitude to the saint community.
Earlier in the day, Dhami participated in the Bagwal Mela held at Maa Varahi Dham in Devidhura of Champawat district.
The Chief Minister offered a bell at Maa Varahi temple and wished for the prosperity and progress of the state. Dhami also witnessed the world-famous 'stone war' at the Bagwal fair. Notably, after the intervention of the Uttarakhand High Court in 2013, stones were replaced with fruits and flowers. This year, the 'stone war' lasted for about 11 minutes.
Dhami also announced that the construction work of flood protection in Ratia River in Reetha, the construction of an alternative approach road and the left-out infrastructure work of Varahi temple will be included under the Manaskhand corridor. The Chief Minister also inspected the stalls set up by various departments.
During the event, the Chief Minister wished everyone a Happy Raksha Bandhan.
"I was feeling overwhelmed by coming to the historical and picturesque area of Devidhura. Bagwal Mela is a confluence of our folk culture, faith and traditions. This fair promotes our culture and tradition," said Dhami.
