Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], January 31 : Launching a blistering attack on the previous Congress government in the Rajasthan, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has alleged that whenever the grand old party was in power in the state, rape and atrocities against women increased.
In the Rajasthan Assembly on Tuesday, Chief Minister Sharma replying to a debate on the motion of thanks to the governor's speech in the state assembly, targeted the Congress fiercely.
"In the previous government, Rajasthan was number one in atrocities against women. At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was praising 'Nari Shakti' and working to increase the respect of women in the county, our state was at the peak of oppression of women, they were afraid to leave the house. Whenever the Congress formed the government in the state, rape and atrocities against women have increased," the Chief Minister said.
Sharma said that the main goal of the BJP's "double engine" government was to make the state crime-free
"We work as representatives of the eight crore people of Rajasthan. When we do politics, we have to decide how we want to do politics. if I say something and do not follow it then it is the biggest fault. The basic tenet of politics is to deliver what is promised. The state will be run by rules, regulations and constitution, not by appeasement. Making the state crime-free is the main goal of the double-engine government," Sharma said.
Sharma asserted that if required, the government will get the paper leak case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
"I want to inform you that many paper leaks including Rajasthan Police Constable Recruitment Examination-2021, CHO Recruitment Examination-2020, Senior Teacher Recruitment-2022 and REET Examination-2021 being investigated by the SIT of the Rajasthan Police. Some members had said that the paper leak should be investigated by CBI and not by SIT. If necessary, we will get the paper leak investigated by CBI also," the Chief Minister said.
The motion of thanks to the governor's speech was passed in the House by voice vote and the assembly was adjourned till February 8.
