Patna (Bihar) [India], May 25 : Congress leader Pawan Khera on Saturday took a hard line against Prime Minister Narendra Modi "mujra" remarks and said that the PM's remarks demonstrated his divisive mindset, which aims to incite conflicts among the communities in the country.
This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attacked the INDIA bloc over the reservations issue, and accused them of performing "mujra" for the vote bank.
Speaking to ANI, Pawan Khera said, "Is this the way a Prime Minister of a country speaks? Is there any provision for reservation based on religion anywhere in the Constitution? You have been a PM for 10 years, you have been sitting after taking the oath of the Constitution, you should have at least read what is written in it."
"Those who are giving out comments without reading the Constitution reflect their mentality to divide the country. The mentality to incite conflicts among the communities in the country," said Khera.
When asked about, Amit Shah claiming over 310 seats for the BJP, Pawan Khera said, "Let them claim. The fact of the matter is that they know very well, that their intelligence agencies have told them that they are being restricted to below 180 seats. That is why the Prime Minister is talking in a language that no other Prime Minister has ever used and should never use in this country."
"He is a nervous wreck right now, he knows what is coming, he knows what he has to face after the 4th of June and he is worried," said the Congress leader.
PM Modi attacked INDIA bloc in Bihar over reservations issue and accused it of doing "slavery" and "mujra" for the Muslim vote bank.
"I am giving the guarantee to Bihar, SC, ST, OBC communities, till Modi is alive, I will not let them snatch away their rights. For Modi, the Constitution is supreme, for Modi, Babasaheb Ambedkar's sentiments are supreme... if the INDI alliance wants to accept the servitude of their vote bank, they are free to do so...if they want to perform mujra (dance), they are free to do... I will still stand with the SC, ST, OBC reservation staunchly. Jb tak jaan hai ladta rahunga," PM Modi said.
Earlier in the day, afterexcercising his right to vote in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Pawan Khera said, "I voted for a better India where there is no unemployment and youths don't commit suicide because of unemployment."
Taking a jibe at the PM Modi-led-BJP government, Khera said, "I voted for an India where never again those visuals are repeated where lakhs of bodies were lying unclaimed due to covid and there was an irresponsible man at the top of the govt who asked us to 'bajao thali and taali'. I think this is a vote for change, people are voting for change. BJP will not cross 180 this time."
The sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 58 parliamentary constituencies saw a cumulative voter turnout of 57.7 per cent till 5 pm, as per the data shared by the Election Commission on Saturday.
The Lok Sabha elections will be completed on June 1 after the seventh phase of polls in which voters from 57 constituencies will exercise their franchise.
The results will be declared on June 4.
