'Repair of embankment of Munak Canal completed; water supply in Dwarka to resume tonight': Atishi

New Delhi [India], July 13 : A day after the Munak Canal barrage broke down, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Saturday said that the repair of the embankment of Munak Canal had been completed and that the water supply in Dwarka would resume tonight.
In a post on 'X', the Delhi Minister wrote, "The repair of the embankment of Munak canal was completed last night. Haryana released water from Kakroi's head at 10:30 am. This water will reach Delhi by 1:30-2:00 pm."

She further asserted that the water supply in the Dwarka area of the national capital would resume tonight.
"Dwarka water treatment plant will start functioning from 4 pm. Water supply will resume in Dwarka from tonight," she added.
Yesterday, it was reported that the situation improved in the JJ colony of Bawana in Northwest Delhi after severe waterlogging in the area after a barrage of the Munak canal broke down.
On Thursday night dewatering machines were used to clear waterlogging in the JJ Colony after a breach in the sub-branch of the Munak Canal, which is a part of the Western Yamuna Canal.
A breach in the Munak Canal led to severe waterlogging in the nearby residential areas. Its Career Lined Channel (CLC) that runs into Bawana broke, leading to floods in nearby areas.
Delhi LG VK Saxena took stock of the flooding. The CEO-Delhi Jal Board said the breach was being repaired at a war footing and would be completed by Friday evening.NDRF teams were immediately dispatched to evacuate affected people from the area. The irrigation and Flood Control Department were directed to deploy pumps to drain out water at the earliest and provide additional boats to NDRF as required.
Directions were also given for adequate arrangements to be provided by DUSIB for relief and rehabilitation measures and making available basic minimum services including shelter. The Disaster Management Cell of the Revenue Department was advised to provide relief as per norms.
The Area District Magistrate was directed to deploy a team of executive magistrates to coordinate relief and rescue operations.
