Patna (Bihar) [India], June 3 : With barely a day left for vote counting for Lok Sabha polls, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary dismissed the INDIA bloc's claim of getting "295-plus seats," stating that if the Opposition is so confident of victory, they should directly go the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
In a conversation with ANI, Choudhary said, "The people of the country have voted having kept in mind Prime Minister Narendra Modiji's work. We are confident that we will win over 400 seats nationwide and in Bihar, we are sure of securing all 40 seats. However, if the INDIA bloc has gotten 295 seats, they should got to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Who's even stopping them"?
Several leaders of the INDIA bloc have exuded confidence that the grand alliance would secure over 295 seats in the Lok Sabha election.
Earlier on Sunday, on being asked about the possible number of seats the INDIA bloc would win in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi gave a witty response and said, "Sidhu Moose Wala ka song suna hai aapne?" (Have you heard Sidhu Moose Wala's song) referring to "295"; he replied 295 seats.
However, in contrast with what the INDIA bloc leaders have been claiming, the exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), indicating a third straight term of the current government.
According to India Today-Axis My India exit polls, NDA is predicted to win 361-401 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. The INDIA bloc is expected to win 131-166 seats, it said and gave 8 to 20 seats to other parties.
The Republic P Marq exit poll gave 359 of 543 seats to NDA, 154 to INDIA bloc and 30 to others. Republic Matrize poll gave 353-368 seats to NDA, 118-113 to the INDIA bloc and 43-48 to others. The NewsX Dynamics gave 371 seats to NDA, 125 to INDIA bloc and 47 to others.
If the exit poll predictions come true on June 4 when votes are counted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will become the only PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three successive terms in Lok Sabha polls. The exit polls predicted 'Modi 3.0' with PM Modi having led the BJP's poll effort through rallies and roadshows in various parts of the country.
According to the poll predictions, Bihar with 40 seats will see the NDA sweeping the state yet again. The BJP will win 17 seats, Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal United will obtain 11, Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party will win four and the Hindustani Awam Morcha will win one seat. This brings the NDA total to 31.
The Lok Sabha polls were held in seven phases starting from April 19 to June 1.
The counting of votes will be done on Tuesday.
