New Delhi [India], August 1 : Sanjana Chauhan, a class XI student, has brought light to the lives of thousands of people through the noble initiative "Dhristi." At a young age, when teenagers enjoy their lives, Sanjana thought about children from the underprivileged sections, who are not aware of the importance of eyecare and tend to neglect it, a press release said.
"Drishti" has been conceptualised with one vision: to make eyecare available to all. Through this initiative, people's eyes will be tested, spreading awareness about the importance of eyecare. In addition, free spectacles and medicines will be distributed to them. Under this campaign, free eye check-up camps have been organised for underprivileged children across Delhi, NCR.
Speaking about the campaign, Sanjana Chauhan said, "We know the importance of eyes in our lives, and one cannot function without healthy eyes. While teaching a few students in a slum area, I noticed that the students were not able to see the blackboard. After talking with them, I came to know that their vision had been affected but they did not understand the gravity of the situation and never got their eyes checked."
"Many times, eye disorders are not taken seriously, especially by the underprivileged sections, and they think that their eyes will be fine in due course of time. This led me to initiate this campaign, this is just the beginning of my journey and we aim to benefit thousands of children through this campaign," she added.
