Sarpanch Neeru Yadav returns to India after making a mark at the UN CDP Meet 2024

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 14 : Sarpanch of Lambi Ahir Panchayat of Jhunjhunu, Neeru Yadav, famous as the hockey lady sarpanch in Rajasthan, returned to Rajasthan after representing India in the CDP Meet 2024 held in New York.
Recently, she got the opportunity to attend and represent India at the annual conference, organized by the Population and Development Commission of the United Nations in New York where she spoke on the topic of the leadership experience of elected women representatives in Panchayat Raj in India.
In her speech to the UN, Neeru Yadav spoke of how she had successfully got women out of their homes and trained them to play hockey, This she said was key to developing leadership qualities amongst the girls and making them self-sufficient. She also spoke of efforts to reduce the use of plastic in her area by replacing plastic bags with cloth bags. These bags were now being used for household needs and the making of bags had also provided women with employment opportunities.
Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari celebrated her achievement with a post on X " Sarpanch Neeru Yadav ji (Hockey wali Sarpanch) of Lambi Sahar, Surajgarh, Jhunjhunu district for achieving a historic achievement on the global platform by participating in the annual conference (CDP Meet 2024) organized by the United Nations Commission on Population and Development and sharing unique innovations."
From preparing a women's hockey team to providing coaches for training and making arrangements for ground in the village that too at her own expense, she has worked a lot in the field of hockey and women empowerment in her Panchayat Samiti area. This women's hockey team has performed well in many competitions. This is the reason why she is famous as 'Hockey Sarpanch'. She has also been to Kaun Banega Crorepati as a celebrity.
While speaking to ANI, Neeru Yadav shared her experiences at CDP Meet 2024. She also said that her efforts are driven to advance women in the village and the state, for which she is getting support from the state government too. To make farmers self-reliant, she has also opened FPO in her Panchayat Samiti. Now Neeru Yadav wants branches of some banks to be opened in her Panchayat Samiti.
Sarpanch Neeru Yadav is also known for making her gram panchayat completely plastic-free, for which she had established a Utensil Bank in the village itself. Now, people not only from Lambi Ahir Gram Panchayat but also from nearby villages get free steel utensils from this Utensil Bank during their marriage and for other events too.
