New Delhi [India], October 13 : The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a PIL challenging the Darwin theory of evolution and Einstien's equation of relativity.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia told the petitioner, who was appearing in person, that if he believes that those theories were wrong, then the Supreme Court has nothing to do.
Petitioner Raj Kumar wanted to prove that Einstien's equation (E=MC2) of special relativity and Darwinian theory of evolution were wrong and said he wanted a platform for him to put forth his arguments for this purpose.
"If that is your belief, then you can propagate your own belief. This cannot be a writ petition under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution, which has to deal with the issues of fundamental rights," said Justice Kaul.
At the out, the petitioner told the bench that whatever he has studied in school and college, he now realised that was wrong.
To this, the bench told him, "Then you improve your theory... what is the Supreme Court supposed to do? You say you studied something in school, you were a science student. Now you say that those theories are wrong. If you believe that those theories were wrong, then the Supreme Court has nothing to do. What is the violation of your fundamental right under Article 32?"
Petitioner then told the bench that 20 million people have died accepting Darwin's theory.
"You do your own theory and propound it. No difficulty. You feel that two theories that have existed for a long time are wrong.... You propagate your own theory...," Justice Kaul added.
