New Delhi [India], October 23 : Consensus continues to evade the NDA when it comes to the upcoming by-elections for nine seats in Uttar Pradesh. The Nishad Party is adamant about contesting two seats. A crucial meeting over the same was held between BJP President JP Nadda and Nishad Party Chief Sanjay Nishad at the BJP headquarters late Tuesday night (October 22).
"If your party will only offer one seat, will there be dissent? We've come to resolve social issues. Seat determines victory and it assures that the government remains in power. We can only get what we want when we win, that's why we need seats. I've left it to the BJP," Sanjay Nishad exclusively spoke to ANI after meeting BJP chief JP Nadda.
"JP Nadda is a great leader. Just like in Treta yug, how Lord Ram and King Nishad met and found a solution, similarly, Modi ji and Yogi ji have embraced the descendants of King Nishad. With JP Nadda ji, I have discussed the issues regarding the Nishad community and reservation. I joined BJP on this condition and a meeting will be held on this after Diwali.........After discussions, we have left everything to them. I have also given to him the list of our candidates. We expect the list to be finalised by tonight. I have an appointment to meet the PM after Diwali..." said Sanjay Nishad.
"We will win Uttar Pradesh like we won Haryana. Nadda ji has a big vision and a large heart, and he will work for good results. We had a conversation and left all the decisions to him. I have given him the list of our candidates, and he said we will sit together and find solutions. We expect our list to be finalized by tonight. Just like we won Haryana, we're confident of winning similarly. I have an appointment to meet the Prime Minister, and after Diwali, we will discuss our issues with the Prime Minister and Home Minister," he added.
Reacting to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav exuding confidence over victory in UP by-polls, Sanjay Nishad said, "Whatever they say, the opposite happens. They achieved partial success with Congress' help, but that is temporary. Mulayam Singh worked for the backward classes, and Congress is anti-backward."
Reacting to Shivpal Yadav's comment on answering to corrupt Election officials after coming into power in Karhal, Sanjay Nishad said, "Samajwadi Party made mistakes during their rule and influenced officials, which is why they're making such statements. Since the Nishad Party arrived, the message has gone out to the public and that is never let the elephant (BSP ) and cycle (SP) come to power; remove them and bring NDA."
The Uttar Pradesh by-polls are slated to be held on nine Assembly seats including Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, and Katehari. The poll body has announced by-polls for nine of the 10 vacant assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, except Milkipur of Ayodhya district.
The by-polls on 48 constituencies are spread over 15 states - Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
