Semi-Christmas celebrations held at Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 24 : Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer participated in the semi-Christmas celebrations held at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan here on Sunday.
In his message, Governor Abdul Nazeer said that Jesus Christ gave mankind the message of peace, harmony, and universal brotherhood and this is what all of us need to practice in our lives, the press note issued by the Governor's office read.
The Governor said that to be truly happy, we must rise above bigotry and jealousy of others and we must love even those who hate us and love is the only path to peace, freedom, and happiness.
Earlier, the programme commenced with Bishop Sampath reciting prayers and Bible reading, followed by a Christmas message by Bishop Ebenezer, Metropolitan Mission, Vijayawada.
Vice chairman of Andhra Pradesh Minorities Commission, Daniel, felicitated Governor Abdul Nazeer. Later, after cake cutting, closing prayers and Benediction were delivered by Bishop George Cornelius, Church of South India (CSI) Vijayawada. Officers and staff members of Raj Bhavan attended the programme, the release read.
Christmas is an annual festival celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed by billions of people worldwide on December 25 as a religious and cultural event. Many, but not all, countries observe Christmas as a holiday.
During the weeks leading up to Christmas, many homes have Christmas trees and other decorations. Some workplaces host Christmas parties before December 25. Exchanging gifts, singing Christmas carols, and attending parties are all festive activities. Christmas cards are also presented or mailed out before the festival.
